Children who have Special Educational Needs

The Blake CE Primary is an inclusive mainstream school. We fully comply with the requirements outlined in the Special Needs Code of Practice (2014). Staff have training and experience to be able to meet the needs of learners who may have difficulties with:

  • Cognition and learning

  • Speech, language, communication and interaction

  • Social, emotional and mental health

  • Sensory and/or physical needs

Children on our current Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities (SEND) register have needs in some or all or the four areas listed above. We will always make reasonable adjustments to our practices in order to comply with the Equality Act of 2010.

If you think your child might have SEN, the first person you should talk to is your child's class teacher.  They will meet with you and discuss your concerns.  Class teachers work closely with the Head of School and SENCO (Mrs Rebecca Patchett) who can either support the class teacher, or meet with parents to discuss how to best support your child.
